Barbersalon for the Everyday Guy Opens its First Location in Lakeview

(Chicago, IL) December 9, 2008 – Designed with the everyday guy in mind, from college students to recent grads to young professionals, and low maintenance men everywhere, Urban Joe, located at 3324 N. Clark St. in Wrigleyville, is the new six-chair salon for guys wanting a basic $20 haircut minus the trimmings. Open Tuesday through Thursday 12noon to 9pm, Friday 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm, Urban Joe took over the space previously occupied by HALO [FOR MEN], which recently relocated to Diversey and Clark. Urban Joe opened its doors on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 as the no gimmicks, no nonsense, no appointment men’s hair salon that’s unlike dad’s barbershop. To inaugurate the barbersalon’s debut, disheveled dudes can clean up with half-priced, $10 haircuts and gents named Joe can cash in on FREE cuts throughout the month of December.

The brainchild of grooming guru and Chicagoan Robert Patrizi, the man behind HALO [FOR MEN] salons and spa, Urban Joe came from his recognition of Windy City chaps looking for a modern guys-on-the-go barbershop that offers a quick visit, a quality cut and exceptional customer service. “I wanted to create a fun and fast paced atmosphere where guys can stop in at anytime for a haircut, write their name on a chalkboard for a slot and kick back in a spot filled with a talented staff, streaming sports, movies and great music,” said Patrizi, owner of Urban Joe along with new business partner Greg Levy.

Branded with silver and blue walls accented with bold, white trim, the 850 square foot barber salon exudes the feel of a rock n’ roll show meets classic sports game space.  Hanging guitars, music and movie posters with exposed brick walls and bleacher-style seating compliment the vintage cash register and black chalkboard in the reception area. Stylists don Urban Joe aprons and jeans while offering haircuts on the fly from toolbox stations. Adding function and style, two 42-inch LCD’s stream live concert footage and sporting events while rock alternative beats fill the airwaves. Disheveled and dehydrated Joes can also grab a quick drink from the in-house soda machine.

“After work, in between class, before a night out or while running errands, guys can escape the everyday with a quick and quality cut at Urban Joe,” added Patrizi. “Our skilled stylists know how to get them in-and-out without sacrificing quality or style.”

Be on the lookout for an additional Urban Joe location in the Loop sometime in 2009. For more information, please visit www.urbanjoe.com.
